Maker Coin - Eye of Agamotto
thingiverse
This is my creator's coin, a bespoke display piece primarily, though I use it as a filament sample now. The design draws inspiration from the Eye of Agamotto in Dr. Strange, but it's not a direct replica. The coin has four nested components that rotate on pivot points. With the included STL file, I was able to separate the rings effortlessly with various filaments, including regular PLA and PETG, carbon fiber, and timberfill (may require pressing the inner ring with plastic to force movement initially; I used a glue stick case). The surface finish shown in the photos comes from the slicer: the recessed area features gyroid infill with no top layer, while the raised area displays a Hilbert curve pattern. To achieve different settings for various parts of the model, I employed Slic3r modifier mesh, which is the second STL file (3x.stl). This allowed me to apply distinct settings to the part of the model enclosed by the "box" created by this second file. I set primary settings to print with sparse infill and a Hilbert curve top layer pattern, while modified settings within the box are 50% gyroid infill and zero top layers. Printed on Prusa i3 MK2.5 using diverse filaments, the ones depicted in the photos are Polyalchemy Elixir Gold, Filamentum Timberfill Rosewood, Atomic translucent green PETG, and Filamentum Vertigo Galaxy.
