Maker Coin - Eye of Agamotto
myminifactory
This is my customized coin, essentially a bespoke display item, though I use it as a filament sample now. The design draws inspiration from the Eye of Agamotto in Dr. Strange, yet it's not a replica. The coin features four nested components that rotate around pivot points. With the included STL file, I was able to separate the rings effortlessly with various filaments ranging from regular PLA and PETG to carbon fiber and timberfill (may need to apply gentle pressure on the inner ring using a plastic tool to initiate movement; I used a glue stick case). The surface finish seen in the photos results from Slic3r settings: the recessed area features gyroid infill without any top layer, while the raised area showcases the Hilbert curve pattern. To achieve diverse print settings across different parts of the model, I employed Slic3r modifier mesh, which is the second STL file (3x.stl). This allows me to apply distinct settings to specific regions within the model by creating a "box" using this secondary file; consequently, I set the primary settings for sparse infill and Hilbert curve top layer pattern, whereas the modified settings inside the box are 50% gyroid infill with zero top layers. The coin was printed on Prusa i3 MK2.5 using an assortment of filaments, including Polyalchemy Elixir Gold, Filamentum Timberfill Rosewood, Atomic translucent green PETG, and Filamentum Vertigo Galaxy.
