Maker Box Filament Spool

Maker Box Filament Spool

This is a straightforward filament spool designed specifically for the Maker Box filament samples. I aimed to create something simple that could be printed quickly and would fit back in the original bags. There are two versions available: The standard version features a 55mm diameter center, matching Hatchbox's dimensions. In contrast, the minimal version removes this center to conserve even less filament. Both versions have an outer diameter of 110mm, identical to most of my filament samples that come pre-wound. This allows the spool to be used in two ways: Wind the filament onto the new spool. Sandwich the filament sample between the top and bottom pieces. This is easier, but you may experience mixed results since the filament isn't as snug, and it's hard to tell if it's tangled around itself. I recommend keeping the twist ties on until assembly. You'll need a top piece and a bottom piece for each spool. They're designed for compression fit, but you might need a few drops of super glue depending on how yours prints. Note: I've only tested this with 1.75mm filament samples so far. If there's any way to adjust it for 3mm filament, please let me know.
