MakeItFloat Concept

Hi Folks! I love tackling challenges, so I joined the S.T.E.A.M. MakeItFloat challenge with excitement! This is my first project on Thingiverse, and I'm thrilled to share it with you. To find a great solution for transporting heavy loads, I teamed up with a colleague, and we brainstormed some innovative ideas. We came up with three concepts, and this is the second one. Fingers crossed that we'll have enough time to test all three! Here's what we focused on: 1. Minimize print parts and support structures. 2. Carry heavy loads - in this case, two Euro coins (diameter: 25.75 mm, thickness: 2.20 mm, weight: 8.50 g). 3. Prioritize load over design. 4. Ensure the device can hold a lot of weight. This design can be printed on an area of 200x200x180mm using PLA. I tweaked the design several times to ensure it could hold a lot of coins, a beer can (0.5l), and even a liter of ice! The new design should work better, allowing it to carry more ice for the beer . When I placed a can inside, I noticed the center of gravity was high, so I lowered the design. That's all for now! Update: Concept Update I've prepared an STL file and need to print and test the device soon! Update: Printed Legs, Added Stiffener After printing the legs, I realized they weren't stable enough, so I added a stiffener. Next step is to print and test it. Update: Assembled and Ready for Testing The concept has been printed and assembled. I'll try to test it over the weekend. Photo Added! I've attached a photo of the device with a can of 0.5l beer on it. It's not the best beer, but it's perfect for the pool ! Next update: Coins in Action! Update: Small Modifications and Covers I made some minor changes and prepared covers. I also closed the bottom area of the box to make it water-tight. Photo Uploaded! I've added a photo and basic instructions to the main description. Basic Instructions Added! Updated Main Description and Photos
