This is a parametric bracket creator for MakeBlock that generates parts of varying sizes. All MakeBlock structural components use M4 screws with holes spaced eight millimeters apart. Therefore, I developed this tool to create flat sections with specified numbers of holes in the x and y axes as well as the part's thickness. Most printers partially fill inner openings, so a two-millimeter radius produces a component where the M4 screws can engage. In contrast, a 2.4 millimeter radius results in an item that requires a nut because it leaves a bit loose. You may also create longer slots within your object by adding specific lines to the arrays as I demonstrated in the 3x9 bracket. To accomplish this, begin the line at position zero for columns or rows and separate multiple selections with commas. MakeBlock is a robotics platform used by kids building bots up to advanced balancing robots, printers, engravers, and more. When you generate a new customized item, give it a descriptive title. Version two boosts thickness to 3mm while decreasing rounding on the exterior corners of my creation. The object will now transfer easily to MakerWare as the component centers around the origin point. My v3 code revision is fully modular and enables independent customization of corner radii and pitch distances. When creating STL files, this module preserves identical values. To create sharper angles more efficiently (especially at right corners), the code in version 4 optimizes calculations based on specifications given. As per the user's request, I made available an array in my code revision v5 to input extra parameters within MakeBlock. Later versions of my parametric tool were created for user experience improvement and expanded customizations: adding remarks or advice regarding certain settings such as employing a two-point-four millimeter radius ("loose" part), listing long open rows/columns, printing specifications such as brands (like MakerBot Replicator 2) that best produce quality designs.
