Make Your School a Better Place: Creating Solutions to Problems Using What's At Hand
thingiverse
Students collaborate on a project that empowers them to tackle issues within and beyond their school environment. Their mission is to identify a problem at Patrick Henry Community College and utilize the design thinking process to brainstorm, design, and develop innovative solutions using available materials, tools, and equipment. This initiative was first introduced as a challenge for our Maker Club, yielding substantial positive impacts on both students and the institution as a whole. As students work together on such projects, they hone their communication skills and grasp of the Design Thinking process while creating practical solutions to real problems. For instance, a group designed a custom guitar pick for an individual suffering from carpal tunnel syndrome.
