Main retract mount and brace for Freewing F-35 V3
thingiverse
One critical issue arose with my F-35, as a crucial mount component wasn't properly secured. During initial landing, its top flange broke off completely due to inadequate adhesion. Closer inspection revealed that this top flange was surprisingly fragile and had an acute angle where it connected to the main assembly part – a design flaw that compromised its stability. In contrast, the replacement part boasts a far sturdier top flange and more robust joint with the primary mount component. This upgrade ensures enhanced structural integrity. The addition of a main gear support block significantly reduces play in the retract system after several landings. Its design allows it to sit directly atop the mounting flange of the retract unit, providing essential support and minimizing wear. To achieve similar stability for the nose gear, the nose gear brace must be meticulously secured with adhesive behind its corresponding leg. This precise application ensures optimal performance and minimizes potential damage from repeated use.
