MagSafe Proclip Mount
prusaprinters

I needed a MagSafe compatible mount for my Proclip, I figured I could make something with the magnets I have leftover from other projects. Sure enough, I found Uko's design and used it as inspiration for this design. I didn't want to rely on 3M adhesive strips, so I made an adapter plate so everything can be screwed together. I also wanted to make the plate angled so that I could have a better view of my device.

The adapter plate uses 4 M2.5x8mm screws and the mount uses 1 M3x8mm screw. I like to use screws designed for threading into plastics.

The adapter plate should work with other Proclip bases, I think the hole pattern is fairly standard.

The mount itself uses the same 6x3 magnets as Uko's design and you can follow his instructions for magnet orientation, etc but it's fairly straightforward. The biggest challenge was getting all of the magnets seated quickly while the printer was paused. The pockets should be snug enough so they stay put otherwise they may pop out and stick to each other.

I used some magnets from Amazon and they are strong enough to hold the phone, but it could be more secure. I found if you have a silicone case or similar that helps give it more grip so the phone doesn't slide off. If I were to make this again, I would use some of my higher quality magnets that are significantly stronger (N48).
