Magnifying Glasses

Printable, cost-effective magnifying glasses. An alternative to the pricey Edsyn MA10 magnifier headset, these lenses cost around €15 while the plastic headset itself ranges from €50 to €60. Lenses come in different magnifications: 2.5 for reading, 4.0, 5.0, and 7.0 perfect for soldering 0.5mm pitch. To assemble, print all parts and use two 16mm screws and locking nuts to attach the earpieces to the front part. A 10mm screw and standard nut fixes the lens holder. Secure the lens with a rubber band. Due to the weight of the lens, especially the 7x variant, the glasses may tilt down. To counter this, you can use zip ties as ear clamps, attach a large rubber band between earpiece ends, or use PLA filament as an ear clamp and weld it to the cube with a soldering iron. Glueing is also an option. For those who don't need special earpiece fixtures, simple versions are available. It's recommended to glue soft material like cotton to the nose holder for comfort. The BOM includes one Edsyn MA10 lens, printed parts (front, left and right, with simple alternatives), two locking nuts, a nut, three screws of different sizes, a small rubber band for lens fixture, optional zip ties or large rubber bands, and cotton for the nose holder. Enjoy your new magnifying glasses!
