Magneto Helmet
thingiverse
A wearable helmet inspired by Magneto from X-Men: Days of Future Past, worn to Comic Con Denver 2017 and surviving all three days without a single break. Sizing Table (Estimates): Measure the circumference of your head around your brow, consulting the scaling percentage chart below based on estimates generated in my modeling software. Brow Circumference (in mm) | Scale Factor (all dimensions) -----------------------------------------|------------------------------------------ 765 mm | 1.25x 734 mm | 1.20x 704 mm | 1.15x 673 mm | 1.10x 643 mm | 1.05x 612 mm | 1.0x 582 mm | 0.95x 551 mm | 0.90x 520 mm | 0.85x 490 mm | 0.80x 459 mm | 0.75x NOTES: 1) With a fairly large head, the helmet may be oversized on you if printed at its current size, so I recommend scaling it and providing your brim circumference and scale factor for me to update the table. 2) Depending on print bed size and helmet dimensions, consider splitting the helmet into multiple pieces; I had to split mine into four sections, easily fixed with a bit of Bondo. 3) Leave about 5mm of space between your head and the interior for attaching foam pads and ensuring adequate room to remove your head from the helmet. If following my scaling guide, this space should be sufficient. Thanks to lehthanis for allowing me to use his human head model in designing this helmet: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:758647, which features as the head model in the pictures; this file does not include the head model itself.
