Magnetic Z-probe semi-automatic
thingiverse
I love my Magnetic Z-probe so much.... until the "hex-key" Z-auto probe stopped working for me.\nAs an alternative solution, I created a new version to be used with an 8mm diameter x 3mm magnet,\nsince it had been serving me well so far. To take this magnetic calibration device to the next level,\nyou'll want to attach it firmly to the bottom of your effector.\nFor those unfamiliar with the standard micro switch, don't worry; my design requires only one for simple, precise motion without any added complexity from moving parts.\nThanks to my careful planning, you should see outstanding results right off the bat.\nTo install the micro switch perfectly in place,\nam sure to put it directly underneath the magnet so everything sits solid and even, preventing any kind of tip or wobble at all times.\nThe small metal part that serves as a pivot for your z-axis probe is permanently attached with strong epoxy adhesives. To set up the calibration mechanism,\nyou'll need a flat steel tab on the underside of the effector for it to click onto. The included picture gives an example design you can follow to replicate this process.\nI also updated my instructions, explaining exactly what my magnetic z-probe is meant to do: This printable piece secures an 8mm magnet which works with "Z-probes." Many people struggle making metal parts for this purpose.\nThe solution offered by these 3D print parts eases everyone's lives in printing high quality results consistently - giving everyone a smooth, effortless printing experience at all times.\nNote that before sharing the final output,\nmake sure to add an extra layer of adhesive around where the steel tab meets your 3d printer's aluminum effector.\nIf you'd like further details on this part's performance, or want some feedback from users like myself,\nthose in need of these designs would be grateful if you could give us more information regarding any experiences that went wrong.
