magnetic wall mount for laser level
thingiverse
I designed this magnetic wall mount for my laser level. I saw that many projection type laser levels came equipped with a magnetic mount and realized I could "quickly" model and print one out. After several revisions I arrived at this design. It prints sideways without supports and the magnets push in from one side. The friction of the pocket holds them in place. I used what I had on hand - in this case four 12.7mm x 3mm N52 discs. I found placing them in opposite polarities increased the 'stick'. They can be glued in for additional security. I had a tough time pushing in the magnets as the fit was very tight. I modeled a pusher to save my fingers. Something that became apparent after I printed the first one was that PLA is pretty slick and the mount would slide down on smooth surfaces. I added a cutout for 3mm thick foam rubber I had on hand. It seemed to do the trick and the mount no longer slides down on most surfaces. Use a 1/4-20 button head screw for attaching the laser. It can be rotated about the screw as well. Technically anything with a 1/4" mount that is light enough could be mounted as well.
