Magnetic tray for a 30x10mm NIB magnet
thingiverse
This is a sturdy tray for a mini monster cylindrical 30mm diam x10mm height NIB magnet, The design is meant to be printed in semiflex material (at least the base), as it is intended to be assembled by press fitting the two parts holding inside the magnet. You will need strong hands to assemble this. Thing dimensions are 60mm diam. x 26mm height. Be careful handling this kind of super magnets as you can easily crush your fingers. This tray holds the magnet in place not only to protect it from scratches, but also to keep your fingers and metalic surfaces away from direct contact with the magnet, which could be tricky to remove. Remember that these magnets are not toys. Also remember that if it grabs some ferromagnetic screw, it will hold it firmly in place. If you have ferromagnetic piercings keep a safe distance from this. An adapter for a softer 20mmx10mm magnet is also included. You can make your own just in case, or simply use some resin to secure your own magnet in place, there's plenty of room for it. At printing time, the base part does not require support, but the tray part needs a baseplate support. I found it very easy to remove elastic support from my semiflex printed trays. Do NOT print both parts in a non-elastic material as you won't be able to assemble them. I printed the trays shown in the pictures like this: bases in ABS and the top parts in semiflex material. But I recommend printing the base part in semiflex as it would be more elastic due to its smaller height and this will make assembling the whole thing easier. If you have strong hands, forget about that. This is the bigger brother of my other design here: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2012292 Enjoy your 3D printing!
