Magnetic Tetra-Bricks!

Magnetic Tetra-Bricks!

thingiverse

A magnetic version of Tetra-Bricks. The .stl file is designed for use with 3/8" diameter, 1/16" thick neodymium magnets. You'll need to pause the print at two specific times to insert the magnets. For assistance with altering the g-code to automatically pause, refer to (https://3dprinterwiki.info/duplicatori3/pause-at-layer-height/) or try printing from a PC using Repetier-host for ease of use. To identify the correct pause points, check your g-code preview in your slicer and locate the layer that first covers the bottom magnet space. Next, find the top of the side magnet spaces. Refer to the PauseInsert_x.jpg images for visual reference. For example, I paused at the start of layer 14 and then again at layer 76, but the exact pause points may vary depending on your slicer. To achieve optimal results, ensure that the polarity of the magnets is correct: two sides with N out and two sides with S out. This way, the Tetras will always have two faces that stick together. The easiest way to do this is at the second insert pause, where the print head will push the last magnet into place as it prints over it. Note: Neodymium magnets begin to lose their strength permanently when heated above 80 degrees C. Printing with PLA should not be a concern, but you may want to limit the bed temperature to 75 C or less for other materials.
