This is version 2 of our DIYbio magnetic stirrer. A video showcasing its functionality, along with assembly instructions, can be accessed here: https://youtu.be/e-usZzoXpTo Due to its size, this device will require a correspondingly large print job. For those seeking smaller alternatives, numerous computer fan-based magnetic stirrer designs are available, including our original design located here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2059400 A graphic comparing the dimensions of V2 with V1 is included. We created this larger version to facilitate stirring in larger vessels for soap processing, hydroponics, and other large-scale projects, while also maintaining compatibility with our smaller jars used in the original magnetic stirrer design. Two stir bar designs are provided. The larger design utilizing 13mm neodymium magnets is suitable for high-capacity stirring operations. **Improvements Incorporated** * enlarged platform * sturdier platform to support increased weight capacity * 12V DC motor + motor controller for enhanced speed control * easy customization of magnet rotor The support structure distributes weight evenly across the platform, through the support structures down to four inner feet, and onto the surface upon which the stirrer is situated. It can effortlessly hold a 6L water container without sagging, thus preventing the rotor from making contact with it and disrupting operation. A SketchUp 2019 file is included for those who wish to make modifications or alterations. The original stirrer design is also provided. **Required Components** * 12V DC motor * DC barrel adapter (female) * 12V DC wall plug * motor speed controller * M3 10mm nuts/bolts (x20) * jumper wires * neodymium magnets (13mm diameter x 2.5 height) (x6) **Wiring Configuration** This process is straightforward. The motor controller is clearly labelled for power +/- and motor +/-. Simply connect the wires from the barrel adapter and the motor to the corresponding terminals on the controller. We utilized jumper wires to facilitate easy motor swaps and future component additions.
