Magnetic shoe laces quick strap
thingiverse
I stumbled upon this concept a while back on Thingiverse, brought it to life by printing them out and attempted to put them into action, but the problem was that they kept coming undone with every step, one piece would slip out of the other, so I had to resort to using zip ties temporarily, but that wasn't exactly what I had in mind. So, I decided to revamp these from scratch with magnets. Six 8mm by 3mm magnets are strategically placed underneath the straps to keep them securely in place. Now, you can engage in a run or go about your day with ease, knowing that your laced shoes have a quick release mechanism. To assemble the piece, set the magnets firmly in place using glue, so they won't budge over time. Make sure the magnets are flipped to the correct polarity before setting them in, as this will ensure attraction rather than repulsion. Printed in PETG, PLA can also be used with satisfactory results. As long as your print settings are dialed in correctly, tolerances should be spot on. A revised version has been added for square 5x5x5mm magnets, which provide an even better grip.
