Magnetic Polyhedral Dice Holder / Tray
thingiverse
Here's another d20 magnetic dice holder I came up with. I designed the lid to hold the dice securely when on the table, and the magnet holes are specifically sized for 6mm diameter / 3mm length disc type magnets. If you don't want to use them, the lid fits pretty tight, though. The files labeled "25in" were created with a slightly thicker top that fits more loosely and is designed for the 6-pack of .25in neodymium magnets available at Michael's. However, keep in mind that these magnets are quite expensive at $4.95 for six. I've printed this design using various PLA prints in layer heights ranging from .1mm to .3mm. Printing with carbon fiber PLA produces a seamless finish without the need for sanding or finishing. Make sure you check the polarity of the magnets before placing them into the holes – I learned that lesson the hard way. If someone can figure out how to turn this design into a customizable version, adjusting the diameter of the magnet hole on the fly, please share your expertise with us.
