Magnetic Planetary Gear

Magnetic Planetary Gear

thingiverse

This project aims to develop a synchronous magnetic planetary gear, replacing regular teeth with friction- and lubeless magnets. Updates will be provided as progress continues. To build it, design models according to your chosen magnets and bearings, placing magnets opposite each other. The 1st rotor requires 10 cylindrical magnets (5x1.6mm, 50mm diameter), while the 2nd rotor remains under development. Planets consist of four 5x1.6mm cylindrical magnets, 20mm diameter, with 7x3x3mm bearings held by two printed hulls and secured by M3 bolts. The sun requires two 5x1.6mm cylindrical magnets, fitted with an M3 winding for screwing onto the main axis.
