<h3>Magnetic Pen Holder</h3><h4>Description</h4><p>This is a simple and customizable magnetic pen holder. You can use it to attach a pen to a metal surface where it is needed, e.g. the fridge, a whiteboard, a workbench, or a music stand.</p><p>The pen can be clipped to the holder. There is an empty space inside the object to house a magnet (obviosuly, you can't see the hole in the photos, because it is inside).</p><p>The <a href="http://openscad.org">OpenSCAD</a> file lets you change the relevant parameters, including the width of the pen holder, the pen's diameter (I recommend to use a caliper to determine the diameter), and the dimensions of the magnet you want to include. You can alter the code to fit other pens and magnets, change the magnet's shape (e.g. to a square), or to change the size of pen holder.</p><p>The included .stl file works for pens with a diameter of approx. 9.9mm and has a hole for a flat and round magnet with a diameter of 1cm and a height of 2mm.</p><h4>Printing Hints</h4><p>I printed so far just one item in the pre-defined shape. I used PrusaSlicer with PLA, .2mm QUALITY, and 15% infill on a PRUSA Mini+.</p><p>If you are not sure if your pen will fit I recommend to print a test object without magnet to check the size. Or you can print with a little tolerance and glue the pen to the holder if it doesn't fit perfectly.</p><p>You can use the filament change feature to let the printer pause just before the layer with the ceiling of the magnet hole is being printed to insert the magnet. If you want, you can glue the magnet to the bottom of the hole (although it worked without glue for me).</p><h4>Cost &amp; Time</h4><p>The PLA cost estimate is 0.07€ and power should be negligible. The magnet is approx. 0.21€ (bought a set of 50 magnets on ebay). Print time was 18 minutes.</p>
