## Note My "updated" models with spherical magnets are worthless. I learned that in order for ball magnets to work, they must be able to spin freely in their socket. So I need to completely rethink how to allow for this. This means you should avoid the bins with holes on top. ## Motivation I designed this specifically to hold tokens while playing boardgames, however, it could also be used to hold any small project parts. ## Dimensions * Bins are 3 inches x 3 inches x 1 inch * Long bins are 6 inches x 3 inches x 1 inch ## Magnet Selection * Regular bins are designed to receive 1/8" x 1/8" cylindrical magnets. I used power N35 - N42 and found them to be plenty strong enough to 'click' the boxes together. * Stackable bins are designed to receive 3mm sphere magnets. I ordered N42 strength. The two types of bins should be compatible for side-to-side clicking; just not stackable with each other. ## Change History 2018-05-27 -- Thing initially published 2018-05-31 -- Added small stackable lid, stackable long bin ## Future Shapes I have plans to add more shapes in the future when I get time. Note: All future bins will be in the stackable style, assuming my stackable prototypes turn out okay. Some ideas: - Long stackable bin with lid - Hexagon stackable bin with lid - Lid for small bin - Lids designed to take washers instead of magnets (to save a few pennies? maybe not worth it) - A version with slot for disk magnet in the bottom so metal parts will stick.
