Magnetic Paddle Shifter assembly for custom formula type wheel
thingiverse
I am building a custom formula type steering wheel for my simulator, designed specifically for an Accuforce QR. These files are for the left and right paddle shifters that I am creating. I won't know how well they work until the wheel is complete, but they feel nice as-is. To verify that they would fit on the back of the wheel with the accuforce QR system, I had to design this setup first. I included an incomplete wheel design in case you're interested. It's a work in progress, and I have the display and LED lights working already. The main part of the rim will be made from aluminum, but I'll pre-print it in plastic first to test the fit, wiring, etc., before cutting the alum. Those files will follow soon. What sets this shifter apart is that the switch "clamps in" rather than being "hot glued in" like similar designs. The switch body dimensions are: 6.25mm x 5.83mm x 12.84mm without the reed, which might make it easier to replace if needed. You'll need the following parts: * (2) Switches (25) for $7.99 - available on Amazon at https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B073TYWX86/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 * (2) 4mm X 20mm allen head and nuts * (4) #4 X 1/2" * (4) 12mm X 3mm Neodymium magnets - available on Amazon at https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07D1QWHZ3/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 * Superglue to hold the magnets in place * Wiring for the switch The design was created using FreeCad.
