Magnetic Linear Encoder v1.1a
thingiverse
In version 1.1V, available in Makerbot SVN, a single-sided approach is used for this board. Testing was done by connecting a 5V Arduino to GND and running a magnetic strip over the IC, which caused the activity light to blink, indicating successful functioning. This is my first single-sided board after converting a double-sided one; certain areas may be tight but are still manageable. All connections have been ohmed out, confirming their correctness. A video demonstration of its functionality can be found here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/31697990@N00/4170462649/. Enjoy! Ril3y For PCB painting, apply a black primer and laser etch the designs multiple times for better visibility due to the small chip involved. Afterward, immerse the board in ferric chloride or rub it directly with the chemical. I opted for using a header instead of the CDROM cable specified because I wanted to test this on contraptor devices for accuracy assessment. No need to stick to the specific port provided.
