This is a case study for a magnetic levitation device, specifically one that I acquired from Aliexpress which can be accessed at http://tiny.cc/35x0bz (no affiliation). The thin walls, printed in white PLA, are accompanied by blue LED's that glow evenly around the outer perimeter. A picture taken with the device powered on in a well-lit room reveals a satisfying glow even under those conditions. The magnetic levitation system is secured to the base using four self-tapping screws. I am uncertain of the dimensions of the screws used but for reference, the four posts have 3mm holes drilled into them. A friction-fit lid provides protection for both the magnets and coils within. While it's not necessary to remove the lid, it can be easily taken off when required and is secure enough that it won't fall off by accident. This design choice ensures that the delicate components are safeguarded. To keep the case compact, I utilized a smaller DC jack with a 7mm diameter. For those interested in remixing this device, I have included Sketchup files that provide a basic but dimensionally accurate model of the magnetic levitation gadget itself.
