Magnetic LACK Enclosure Wall Panels
prusaprinters

Hello again!

I recently got into 3D printing and it didn't take long before I wanted to print/make an enclosure for the Prusa MK3s. I came across this LACK enclosure https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2864118# and gave it a try.

I loved the concept, design, and implementation but available access to the printer was limited to the front doors. I like to upgrade and tinker with my stuff and pulling the printer out of the enclosure to work on it was get frustrating. Plus it was tough to clean the enclosure without removing the top. The other big benefit of removable panels is for controlling ambient temperature, for TPU printing I remove the panels and add a fan to keep the air as cool as possible.

I also love magnets. Who doesn't love magnets? So I thought it would be cool if the acrylic side panels were removable and held in place by magnets! Thanks to the OP for providing the design files (here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2864118#) so I could easily remix to incorporate 6x3mm magnets into the design. The result is that all three "walls" can be removed quickly and easily. Also widened the corner with the cable passthrough since my wire harness was a little pinched in the original design.

At first I was worried that these little magnets wouldn't be strong enough but they have turned out to be plenty strong. Only piece the might need support to print is the bottom corner plate for the passthrough.

Check out these seals designed for these panels https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3675695

And my take on an air filter for a LACK enclosure https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3648628

Let me know what you think!
