Desiring a knife holder in the kitchen, I decided to design an adapter for the popular suction mounts available at my local hardware store. The crucial requirement being the solution is non-destructive, as I am renting a house where I cannot make any modifications to the walls, by drilling or gluing. Materials required: - Fusion-Loc 13kg Chrome Suction Bathroom Hook - 2 Pack (https://www.bunnings.com.au/fusion-loc-13kg-chrome-suction-bathroom-hook-2-pack_p4822965) - Pinnacle 305mm Black Magnetic Tool Bar (https://www.bunnings.com.au/pinnacle-305mm-black-magnetic-tool-bar_p0147738) - 2 x M5 bolts (forget the length... 20-30mm or so. Mine are extra long) - 2 x M5 nuts - 4 x small washers Total cost for these materials was around $30 (AUD). I've written detailed instructions below, but you don't have to follow them exactly. I just wanted to take care that no dust contaminates the suction pads and that my positioning was good. Instructions: 1. 3D print 2 x plastic adapters, one for each suction mount. 2. Check the fit of the M5 bolt in the adapter hole, I had to ream these out with a drill bit, due to printing sag. 3. Attach a plastic adapter to the magnetic tool rail, following this assembly order -- Bolt > Washer > bolt thru part > bolt thru magnetic rail > Washer > Nut. Might be difficult to tighten, but the bolt should "grip" the part after a few turns. 4. Repeat previous step for the other plastic adapter and tool rail hole. 5. Slide each of the adapters onto their respective suction mounts. Don't remove the protective paper on the suction mount yet. We are going to check the wall mount position. 6. Identify the mounting location and hold the whole assembled part against the wall. 7. Scribe a line (using a whiteboard marker) around the suction mounts, onto the tile. Check for level if necessary. 8. Remove the whole assembled part from the wall. 9. Remove both adapters from the suction mounts. 10. Remove the protective paper from one of the suction mounts. 11. Position the suction mount against the wall, being careful to match the scribed whiteboard marker lines. 12. Using the included vacuum pump, carefully pump around 6-7 times. The suction mount should not easily come off the wall now. **Read the package instructions for more info. 13. Slide one end of the magnetic rail onto the suction mount. 14. Remove the protective paper from the last suction mount. 15. Holding the last suction mount against its scribed lines, slide the magnetic rail onto the adapter. This is simply to check the fit is OK. 16. Repeat step 12 for the last suction mount. You should now have a level, strongly held magnetic rail knife holder. Enjoy!
