Magnetic Box with Sliding Lid - Hides Keys Under Car Materials: 4 Neo-Dymium Magnets 9mm x 2mm I crafted this magnetic box to conceal keys under my car, utilizing 4 holes at the bottom where 9mm magnets can be glued in for secure attachment. Frustrated by purchasing a key lock every time I went surfing or visited a swimming hole, I designed a black box with a sliding lid to stick under my car. Previously, I would simply place my keys in the suspension of my car, but this approach was not very secure. Print Settings Printer: Cocoon Create (Wanhao i3) Settings: Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 2.5mm Infill: 20% Notes: In my first print, I added supports, resulting in an average outcome. For the second print, I removed supports and achieved a beautiful result. Using a Cocoon Create with a 50mm blower fan upgrade allowed me to bridge gaps effortlessly. Important Slicer Note Make sure to split objects in your slicer as the box is slightly higher than the lid for some reason. Splitting levels them onto the print bed, ensuring a smooth printing process. Post-Printing After printing, I sanded the tongues that slide into the box to achieve a better fit. The initial tolerance was decent, but I wanted it to slide smoothly. Using wet and dry sandpaper, I gave it a quick sand, and now it slides nicely.
