Magnetic Hook

Magnetic Hook

I made some magnetic hooks for my locker at work using neodymium disc magnets available in most hardware stores or online. I designed them to fit two 8mm x 3mm magnets and glued them in securely. After gluing, I added black Sugru to the back of each hook for extra grip on vertical surfaces. You can also use plasti-dip spray if you have it handy to achieve a similar effect. These hooks are strong enough to hold my keys, padlocks, etc., just as designed. However, magnets' weight capacity depends on the surface they're placed on. They'll work well for refrigerator magnets too. Print Settings: Printer Brand: Printrbot Printer Model: Simple Black Rafts: No Rafts Needed Supports: Not Necessary Resolution: 0.2 mm Infill: 10% Infill Rate Post-Printing: After the Sugru cured, I shaved it down slightly to get the clearance just right and even everything out. It was a pretty easy print overall. As you can see in the picture, these hooks held a pair of scissors, a crescent wrench, and a set of keys on an 1.25 inch putty knife, so they should be plenty strong for normal use.
