Update: New version with spring now available.\r\nThe face and plunger have been updated to move the thumb position up and away from the stuff you are picking up.\r\n\r\nNote that the spring is not essential for operation, but it makes it more user-friendly.\r\nAlso note that if you use the spring, tape down the plunger with the spring compressed while you glue the top to the tube.\r\n\r\nCheck out this video of the waste tool in operation: https://youtu.be/7WU_fj8sjJo\r\n\r\nThis tool is designed for removing remains of through board components from your work table if you are into electronic assembly.\r\n\r\nI got fed up with finding and picking up all the bits of legs cut off leds and capacitors etc when I made electronic projects, so I created this little tool to help out.\r\n\r\nCura surprisingly thinks that printing at 100% infill is quicker, although it uses slightly more filament.\r\n\r\nPrint one of each part. You will need a 10x3 round magnet (about $2 for 10 on Amazon), and some super glue to attach it to the plunger.\r\nAlso glue the face to the tube after inserting the plunger (see the update notes above for gluing tips).\r\n\r\nAfter that, you have a tool that picks up electronic waste. Just tap the tool on all the legs/leads etc you want to get rid off and slide the plunger up, then discard the waste in the bin.\r\nIt's really simple!\r\n\r\nEdit: Someone told me it can be quite noisy in operation. I'm hard of hearing, so I never noticed, but a bit of WD40 on the outside of the tube does the trick!
