Magnetic Effector and Carriages for 3DR Simple
thingiverse
WARNING\nConverting my 3DR Simple to magnetic ball joints left me scratching my head, as you may have seen from that somewhat deceptive video. I must confess that no matter what I tried, getting the print head attached consistently proved impossible for me - every time rods would inexplicably dislodge, bringing a whole mess of chaos in their wake. You are on your own if you decide to try this DIY mod. \nMagnetic effector plates and carriages made for the 3DR Simple incorporate countersunk circular magnets, held together with precision by steel ball-bearings screwed onto rods. \nHave a look here at what all the fuss is about - isn't it smooth? Convenience features are definitely a strong point in these hand-built modifications - each magnetic effector includes perfectly spaced slots where you can loop nylon wire ties for neatly routing wiring and other cabling to make it a bit neater. One great perk that these 3DR carriages offer lies with removable sections, which enables quick changeover of the carriage line by line. That's what this project was supposed to be in progress to do - it may never quite reach completion
