Magnetic Dial indicator Holder

ive just recently gotten a lathe an mill so ive been making as many of the tools that i can cause this stuff isn't cheap. i made one that attaches to the spindle of my mill https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5932599 but i really wanted one of the magnetic bases an after looking into how they are made an looking through the magnets i had on hand i ended up making this an as for the base its self i got it on the first try as far as the position of the magnet an the where it sits in the base. i ended up printing it at .3 layer height and it was on a machine that is faster so tolerences isn't as good as some of my other machines so i had to sand the round part an i had to sand down the nut that holds the arm on top so it didnt protrude, if u have threaded inserts that is probrobably the best option an i will be doing the same eventually but the one picture just uses a counter sunk m3x16 bolt an nut, the arms are the same as what i had used for the other holder except ive added a few other versions that was ment to be lighter weight versions but from what ive seen from those is they introduce alot of bounce to the arm with the dial indicator attached so id print v1 of the arms so they are solid. ive not tried the longer arms yet so id suggest printing v1 of those so they are solid an those should be fine but v2 might be to flimbsy. if anyone would like a different type of arm attach let me know an i'll make the changes to work with what u need. i know its nothing like what u would buy as far as how the arm is made but i was just making it work so i could use what i had already made an knew it worked an i can swap them between the two if i really wanted to but ill have enough fo the arms printed for both an for any distance that i may end up needing which i think 2 of the long arms will do anyones needs on machines my size. vevor 7x14 lathe and a wen 33013 mill so pretty much the same as the sieg x2 mills from my understanding. let me know what u think an suggest changes or improvements an i'll do what i can with my limited ability to try to make the changes an improvements. also the magnet size i used was 60x10x5, i did have to use one of the pieces that seperate the magnets as a space to bring it up to the height needed so if that is something that is need let me know an i'll fix the model or add a file that can be used either or but other than that the hardware is up to u, if u use inserts like i did for the arms that will give u the best results cause using just a nut was very inconveient for losening up afer moving the arms so id suggest locking nuts or nylon nuts something that will not back off or the threaded inserts worked without issue for me. only a few places i didnt use them an those are temperary til i get the time to put them in.
