Magnetic Coupling

Magnetic Coupling

thingiverse

The magnetic coupling features two halves - the Bearing Coupling and Cylinder Chuck, which press fits onto a ball bearing and contains a central hole for a rod, respectively. The halves possess cylindrical teeth that mesh together. For assembly, insert six cylindrical rare-earth magnets into both components while maintaining proper pole alignment to prevent repulsion. Cut three rods to fit the Chuck and extend into the Coupling without creating gaps, then insert another rod into the Chuck's center hole. Finally, if using ABS, acetone assists with press-fitting the Coupling onto the ball bearing.
