This text describes a magnetic coupling concept utilizing 10 Makerbot Neodymium magnets. The magnets are ideal for coupling shafts together without precise axial alignment. The holding torque was measured at 43 in-oz in attraction and 25 in-oz in repulsion. Couplings with different shaft diameters are planned, including those suitable for NEMA 17 and NEMA 23 motors. To assemble the couplings, print out the parts, insert magnets, attach to shafts using screws, and align the couplings without worrying about axial alignment.
