Magnetic Costume Tail Holder
thingiverse
I made a Barf from Spaceballs and needed a way to attach the tail, but I didn't want to cut a hole in the coveralls. I came up with this over complicated system to use strong magnets to attach it through the fabric. I ran some armature wire through the tail to make it shapeable then used split rings to attach it to the plate. The zip ties are to snug it up. I then attached some extra fur to cover all the hardware. It works great, it's comfortable, and strong as heck. It's probably overly complicated, but I couldn't think of a more elegant solution. It is in four pieces to allow for quick printing without supports. The screws are M3x8 self tapping and the magnets are 15mmx4mm.The webbing for the belt is 2".The Fusion 360 file is included for modifications.
