Magnetic Carcassonne Tile Holder
thingiverse
This is a tile holder I made for the board game Carcassonne. I printed these with a 0.4mm nozzle with no supports. I got some cheap 5x2mm circular magnets off amazon. You can probably get away with having only 8 magnets (2 on each side) but I'd recommend 16 for each tile holder. No glue is required as they're a snug fit. Make sure you get the polarity on the magnets correct. I highly recommend placing a single magnet in first, then use that as a guide for the other 3 on that side (they should snap together giving you the correct orientation). Then do the adjacent side the same way. Snap the remaining 8 magnets against the 8 you've inserted. Make sure you move them to their opposing side without flipping them over. The end result should be the top and left sides will have the north polarity facing outwards, and the bottom and right sides facing inwards. I recommend marking which side is the top on each tile holder to make it easier to put them all together. for just the base game, you will want 10-12. I have 5 expansions and have printed about 20. When doing the big city, make sure the magnets are the opposite polarities because they need to go face to face with each other.
