Magnetic Camera Mount for PowerSpec, Wanhao, MonoPrice Duplicator i3
thingiverse
This camera mount can be easily shifted from the front to the back of the Wanhoa, PowerSpec, or Monoprice Duplicator i3. It can also be adjusted on the fly due to its magnetic mounting system. The magnets used are 12mm by 3mm and can be found on Amazon, they are glued into the base using super glue. A single 1/4-20 by 3/8'' machine screw mounts the camera to the base. I may add something to give the camera more clearance as it has to move back a bit to clear the hot end, but it is still catching two of the three magnets on each side and seems firmly attached. I'll update this post if I decide to do that. The included g-code should work on a stock PowerSpec using PLA at 210C - not sure about the others. Update 1: An extender was added to move the camera back a bit and angled down for more flexibility in positioning. Although the mount works okay, there is quite a bit of vibration when the machine makes rapid back and forth movements - so I will probably redesign this thing to stiffen it up. In the meantime, some wooden popsicle sticks were glued to the horizontal forks which does help out. Update 2: The new design (red renderings) has been printed and tested - it is much more stable than the first design, but it takes considerably more time to print as it requires supports. The old one (green renderings) works okay, but it's a bit too flimsy and vibrates too much when the printer does short, repetitive strokes. The new one is more robust, but I'm leaving the old one up because it's easier and faster to print and it does work if you don't mind a bit more of the shaky-cam effect.
