Magnetic Box

Magnetic Box

thingiverse

This is a device that keeps objects secure by working with specific magnets, such as these from Lee Valley. You receive four magnets and the device attaches itself securely to metal surfaces, including refrigerators and massive laser cutters. Print Settings: Rafts: Don't matter. Supports: Forget about them too. Resolution: It's best at 0.3mm. Infill: Set it at 15% or higher. Notes: I printed this using PLA on a Makerbot 5th-gen, simplified with Simplify3D. There were no rafts, supports or any infill issues but achieving perfect magnet placement needed slightly heating the material to let me mold it around the magnets smoothly until they clicked into place perfectly. How It Was Made Design Program: The model was created in Onshape which is incredible. It's public so you can edit and modify a parametric version of this device. Just make some adjustments like adjusting dimensions for either box size or magnet positioning to meet your requirements.
