Magnetic bottom for caliper stand
thingiverse
I really loved Walter's ingenious caliper stand design, but I wanted it to remain firmly planted on my desk without relying on glue to hold it in place. This clever "second base" features strategically placed holes that can accommodate eight 6x3 magnets, providing a rock-solid attachment to any metal surface. To secure the magnets, I used CA glue to fill the wells, and then applied another coat of CA glue to attach this modified base to the actual caliper stand itself. Update: I've added an OpenSCAD file for anyone interested in customizing it. However, please note that you'll need to obtain the original STL file from Walter's Digital Caliper Stand design in order to make it work.
