This is a replacement magnetic blade guard for Fiskars rotary cutter rulers. The original part features a bushing that is molded directly into the plastic itself. When the bearing wears out, you're forced to purchase an entirely new cutter. This is a replacement component, requiring you to also acquire a bushing and a magnet separately. The original bushing has an unusual size that's not easily obtainable from standard suppliers. Original Fiskars blades feature a 5/16" hole, while cheap clones boast an 8mm hole - a difference of merely 0.05mm yet sufficient to render Fiskars blades incompatible with an 8mm bushing. The bushing itself needs to fit snugly over a 5mm shaft, necessitating the use of a bushing with mixed imperial and metric dimensions to accommodate original Fiskars blades. Fortunately, commissioning someone on Ebay with the necessary tools can yield a custom-made bushing for just a few pounds or dollars. Alternatively, you could opt for a standard-sized bushing and limit your usage to clone blades. I've uploaded two STL versions of the handle: * handle-5-16.stl, designed to accommodate a bushing with an ID of 5mm, an OD of 5/16", and a height of 6mm (custom size) * handle-8mm.stl, intended for use with a bushing featuring an ID of 5mm, an OD of 8mm, and a height of 5mm (AM050805) Both handles also require a round neodymium magnet measuring 6mm in diameter by 4mm in height. In addition to the STL files, I've included a couple of tools that can aid in inserting and removing the bushing and magnet. The OpenSCAD source code for the part is also provided. You may need to adjust the dimensions based on your printer's tolerances. The variables you can tweak are documented at the top of the file.
