Magnetic Bit Holder Portable
thingiverse
Many people have these nice little bit set boxes, but no one really likes to carry them around. So the bit you need is most of the time somewhere else. I decided to roll my own belt clip carabiner bit holder and took some inspiration from things like 85890 and 2443 as well as commercial belt clip bit holders from Berner, Makita, Bahco, and Würth. The result is a holder with several features: twenty or thirty slots, bits are held by magnets, a hole to apply a key ring (and carabiner), an add-on to store a bit holder along with slots for two more bits, and an add-on to hold a Wera 816 RA bit-holding ratcheting screwdriver. What to print? The holder without the add-on: Print STLs LEFT & RIGHT and MIDDLE. The holder with the add-on: Print STLs LEFT & RIGHT and ADD-ON. The Wera add-on: Print STL WERA 816 RA. Payload: * Bitholder twenty slots + Twenty x five by three millimeter magnets. I only had five by one millimeter magnets from here so I stacked three of them, and it worked like a charm. + Three x M3x20 socket head cap screws with hex drive + Three x M3 nut * Bitholder thirty slots + Thirty x five by three millimeter magnets. I only had five by one millimeter magnets from here so I stacked three of them, and it worked like a charm. + Four x M3x20 socket head cap screws with hex drive + Four x M3 nut * Add-on + Three x eight by five millimeter magnets. Actually, the ones I used from here were eight by four point seven millimeters. * Wera 816 RA holder + One x eight by five millimeter magnet + One x five by four millimeter magnet or any combination of magnets with a five-millimeter diameter that stack up to the required height Assembly: You can watch me assemble the holder in this Magnet Bit Holder Assembly video on YouTube. Decide which version you want, then print the corresponding three-dimensional parts. If you want the add-on, you will have to print it with support. Either with or without an add-on, the five by three millimeter magnets have to be super-glued into the holes of the middle part. If you want the add-on, glue the three eight by five millimeter magnets first, then glue the add-on to the middle part of the holder. If you happen to have a Wera 816 RA or comparable screwdriver, there is an additional screwdriver-holder that slides into the add-on and is held in place by magnets. You will need another eight by four point seven millimeter magnet as well as one five by four millimeter magnet or four five by one millimeter magnets or whatever combination stacks up to four millimeters.
