Magnetic base for JAWONG Catan tiles
thingiverse
This base design was inspired by JAWONG's Catan tiles and can hold six small, diametrically polarized magnets that rotate freely around their axes. When glued to the bottom of the tiles, they create self-assembling sets. Initially, I tested using cyl0065D magnets, but found them costly for a full set. Instead, I opted for snap-together borders with port holders. To assemble, print the tile upside down for optimal smoothness. Use medium or thick cyanoacrylate glue to attach the bases, placing glue away from magnet wells and pressing on tiles. The glue fixture aids alignment, with corners being the ideal spot for tabs.
