Magnet Wire Coil Winding Jig
cults3d
A custom jig for crafting precision coils from magnet wire. Engineered specifically for a project demanding a 1mm thick coil constructed from 40 gauge wire with 900 precise turns. The coil's integrity is maintained by strategically applying small drops of superglue during winding, while kapton tape prevents it from adhering to the jig. All screws are securely fastened to the 3D printed components using heat-set threaded inserts sourced from McMaster-Carr (4-40 screws) https://www.mcmaster.com/catalog/121/3303/=w1cxzg The standoff spacers and handle comprise 8-32 Nylon threaded hex standoffs measuring 1.5 inches in length, complemented by matching nylon screws and nuts for the ends. Update: We discovered that utilizing sewing machine bobbins proves effective for winding coils, and employing red fingernail polish yields superior results for gluing coils due to its solubility in acetone. A photograph illustrating the bobbin within the jig has been added.
