Magnet PCB Workstation
thingiverse
This upgrade utilizes magnets to connect the cranes to their bases, providing ample stability to the crane arms. The magnets are self-centering and rotate smoothly, offering a pleasant amount of resistance. The cranes can easily be detached or slid into position. You can also enhance the original design by removing the peg from the base of the crane and attaching magnets directly to the base plate. I used inexpensive disc magnets measuring N52 20x2mm purchased from eBay, which have an actual size of 19.5x1.7 mm. *Magnet_Base.stl* features holes with a diameter of 19.8 mm to accommodate these magnets. *Magnet_Base_Larger_Holes.stl* has larger holes with a diameter of 20.5 mm to fit slightly bigger magnets. Both *Magnet_Base.stl* and *Magnet_Base_Larger_Holes.stl* have a slightly larger outer contour and are thinner than the original design, measuring 185 mm x 5.5 mm. *Magnet_Crane_Base_with_Handle.stl* boasts a larger base and flat bottom, along with a smaller hole for the vertical crane arm to fit more securely. **Caution:** This upgrade is not suitable for working with magnetic-sensitive electronics.
