Magnet Hexagon Toy
thingiverse
I recently came across a post that caught my attention and decided to create something similar but tailored to 6mm x 3mm magnets. Using Fusion 360, I designed this model. This design is inspired by: https://www.reddit.com/r/3Dprinting/comments/hk162o/the_most_satisfying_print_i_made_so_far_check/ I haven't printed the entire piece yet, but I will share images once it's complete. At 100% scale, the magnet holes are 6x3mm in size. However, I made them a bit too large, so I scaled down the design to 78.13%. This reduced the magnet hole size, so I created an updated version of the top and bottom magnets with resized holes that match the original dimensions. The model is currently printing, and it will take approximately 4 hours for all the hexagonal rings, magnet bases, and a base plate. The design fits 6x3mm magnets at 100% scale, so be cautious when resizing. There's enough space in the bottom control nub to accommodate two stacked magnets, and one in the top control nub. To create patterns, you'll use the magnets to move around the hexagon rings. This design has a flaw: the rings will fall out if tipped over. I plan to address this by adding a clear plastic sheet or a similar solution to secure them in place.
