Magnemite Nintendo Switch Dock

Magnemite Nintendo Switch Dock

The goals of this project was to create a custom dock for the nintendo switch that looks like the pokemon magnemite. I accomplished this by adjusting the existing magnemite model provided by ChaosCoreTech so that it had a slot for the switch to slip into. I then added a hole on the bottom of the slot for the adapter to plug into the docked switch. For filament I chose a gray color for all the parts except the eye, which I used a clear filament painted white. This was to allow the eyeball to light up whenever the switch is triggered. To get the light inside the magnemite I used one of the switch adapters usb ports, connecting it to the button at the base of the switch slot and also connecting it to a blue led which I glued just behind the eyeball. Lastly I glued some foam to the sides of the walls where the switch slides in so the screen avoids getting scratched. Overall this project is till far from perfect and could use a lot of improvements. Some of the major problems I noticed included: Not being able to access the interior easily (could add a door/latch on the back to make this easier). The dock not being very stable and can easily fall over if not anchored down. The interior parts are a bit cramped inside the shell which could lead to some problems if it gets jostled around too much.
