Maglev train and track
prusaprinters

I recovered a bunch of round magnets from a magnetic sheet that we no longer use and have been trying to find ways of using them.
This project would work better with square or rectangular magnets, since the round ones cause the vehicle to jump and wobble, due to the change in magnetic field.
Although the vehicle is captive by the track, it still levitates magnetically. I tried a few different iterations and couldn't get the vehicle to be stable without it being captive. i.e. it would flip upside down, jump off the track or lean on one side.
All the magnets are attached using bluetack, since I had so many iterations glue was not practical, although the glue may help to give a more even magnetic surface to float on.
Using TinkerCAD was great for this part, however I haven't figured out how to turn the track easily yet. I'll update this if I figure it out.
A launch mechanism is also in my head, but that needs even more work :-)

https://youtu.be/4RzCszsazdU
https://youtu.be/PWTxVcM8oRo
https://youtu.be/03gAb5Dhfo8

<oembed url="https://youtu.be/uiw6RxvEIeE"></oembed>

Print Settings

Printer Brand:

FlashForge

Printer:

Adventurer 3

Rafts:

No

Supports:

No

Infill:

20

Filament: Flashforge PLA Yellow and orange

Category: Hobby
