This sculpture is a representation of a Roman magistrate - an elected official in Ancient Rome who took power after the King's death. The Roman Senate chose an Interrex to facilitate the election of a new king, and magistrates were elected by the People of Rome, each holding varying degrees of power. Dictators had the most power, followed by censors, consuls, praetors, curule aediles, and quaestors. Any magistrate could block an action taken by one with equal or lower powers. By definition, plebeian tribunes and aediles were not magistrates since they were elected only by the plebeians and thus independent of other powerful magistrates. This sculpture is part of "Scan The World", a non-profit initiative launched by MyMiniFactory to create a digital archive of fully 3D printable sculptures, artworks, and landmarks from around the globe.
