Hello Folks, Here is the Magic Top Toy. What sets this toy apart from others are several key features that make it truly unique. The top can spin for a long time, typically 1-2 minutes, but I have managed to get mine spinning for as long as 3 minutes! A domed glass surface keeps the top contained within a small area. Once the top is spinning perfectly, it's almost impossible to see; it looks frozen in place. You can hold the bezel in one hand and use the other to spin the top, allowing you to manipulate it on the concave surface of the glass. The Magic part is that you can print out a PDF attachment, cut out the wheel with answers, place it under the dome/bezel, ask your question, and let the Magic Top point to the answer. This toy uses a simple piece of domed glass that can be found at any craft store or online clock supply. You'll need a printed bezel, which is included as a print file attachment. To assemble the top, bond the glass into the bezel using silicone adhesive. The attached PDF serves as a guide to help you create your own Magic Top. Enjoy, Reamo Note: You can use any small lathe to make this top, but I chose to create an aluminum spin shaft and brass top body. However, feel free to design your top however you want. The weight of the top is crucial, as well as its center of gravity. A higher center of gravity will result in a less stable top. For best results, ensure that the top tip is true and undamaged. Note: Avoid using this toy on hard floors such as tile, slate, or hardwood, as any fall greater than a few inches can damage the tip. Instead, use it on linoleum or carpet. If you find that the top is spinning off the dish, start with a softer touch and gradually increase your speed. With practice and attention to technique, you'll be able to spin this toy with confidence in no time.
