MagHex Rosette Linked Tile
thingiverse
We love the MagHex system! One of the great features is that the tiles can rotate to ensure that the magnets always line up, so there is no problem with orientation and hexes that won't link up. However, it takes so many single tiles to build a scenario. There are great designs for linked hexes, but these have the problem of orientation. It's possible to have linked hex sets that won't join because the magnets are not compatible. There are buckyball designs that are a way to solve this problem, but we decided to go a different way. This design of a hex-shaped linked tile has the same ability to rotate to align the magnets as a single tile, and has 7 tiles. It only uses 18 magnets, like 3 single tiles. By combining these Rosette tiles with single tiles, you can easily build any scenario. This design is only for the 3x3mm magnets. We created this by cutting the linked tile design for F2 in half, duplicating, flipping and merging it back together. In fact, you can see two F2s on the bottom which we didn't bother to erase.
