Magball Carriages for Kossel printer with 2020 extrusions
thingiverse
These carriages are a remake from Haydn Huntley's original designs for 2020 extrusions. The magballs and precision-crafted carbon fiber, zero-backlash magnetic arms are available from Haydn Huntley's website at http://www.MagBallArms.com. The primary modification is to use the 15mm Delrin V-roller wheels from Think3DPrint3D, which best fit onto 3mm M3 bolts. These wheels can be found at https://www.think3dprint3d.com/deltaprinter-parts/V-roller. I've also added a spot for a 2.5 bolt to be used as an end-stop trigger. These carriages have 45mm rod spacing, making them compatible with the effector below: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2741790. To assemble one carriage, you will need: - 3 of the above V roller wheels - 3 M3x25 bolts - 6 M3 flat washers - 3 M3 nyloc nuts to secure the three axles - 2 3/8" ball studs (from Haydn Huntley - see above) - 2 M3 nyloc nuts to secure the ball studs - 2 M3x35 SHCS for the belt tightener - 2 M3 nuts for the belt tightener - 1 M3x35 SHCS for preloading the carriage wheels - 1 M3 nyloc nut for preloading the carriage wheels - 1 M3x20 SHCS for the vertical post for the lower G2 belt attachment - 1 M3x12 bolt for upper G2 belt attachment - 1 M3 nyloc nut for upper G2 belt attachment - 2 M3 nuts for the vertical post - 1 M3 washer for the vertical post - 1 M3 nut to secure the vertical post - 1 M2.5x12 hex for end-stop trigger The assembly process follows this order: **For each of 3 wheels in the carriage:** 1. Install a 25mm M3 bolt. 2. Attach the printed carriage. 3. Add the printed plastic spacer. 4. Install a washer. 5. Mount the wheel. 6. Install another washer. 7. Secure with a nyloc nut. **For each of 2 magballs:** 1. Install a magball. 2. Attach the carriage. 3. Secure with nyloc nuts. **For the belt holder bolt:** 1. Install a 20mm M3 belt holder bolt. 2. Attach the carriage. 3. Add a washer. 4. Secure with a nut. 5. Install another nut. 6. Secure with a nyloc nut. **For the pre-tension bolt 35mm:** 1. Install a 35mm M3 bolt. 2. Secure with a nyloc nut. The OpenSCAD file is included along with the STL files, allowing you to make any necessary modifications.
