Dansk Industrie Syndicat AS 'Madsen', commonly known as Madsen or DISA, has been manufacturing weapons since the early 1900s. In 1946, they introduced the M.46 submachine gun that boasted an entirely stamped receiver, integrated with its pistol grip and magazine housing. The unique feature of this firearm was its field stripping procedure; the receiver was made up of two halves - left and right - hinged at the rear and held together by a screw-on barrel nut at the front. In 1950, DISA launched the M.50, which was essentially an improved version of the M.46 with a more conventional and ergonomic charging handle located atop the gun.
